What's your favorite color? It's a simple question that should have a simple question. Nevertheless, I cannot find an answer for it. Not because I am into an overwhelming amount of colors, but because I am into non-colors. As a kid, I longed to paint my bed room black. My mom nipped that desire right off. Even now, I prefer whites and creams, grey and black, and browns. It wasn't until I began natural dyeing that the wonder of color found a place in my heart.

For over a year now, my dive into natural dyeing has become a meditative activity for me. A time to put away modern day distractions and worries - head out on foot to scavenge for natural hues and create pigment rich fabrics. Creating with the hands with what comes from the Earth. It might just be a tea towel to some, but for me this cloth tells a story - both historical and modern. It is rich with traditions of old and natural bounty. It is the continues the narrative of maker.
